The Difference!

Often as a Professional Photographer I need to show clients what they get from me. The difference between what I do as a professional and what an amateur does. Click image to see the difference!

Shannon & Bill's Wedding at "Sails"

A few photos from Shannon and Bill's wedding last Saturday at "Sails on Suttons" just down the road from me here in Redcliffe at the beach. A chilly winter's day with a few drops of rain and lovely soft lighting. A fabulous couple to work and I created several hundred images for them to choose from for their wedding album. 2010 Redcliffe Show

Redcliffe Show 2nd, 3rd & 4th July 2010.
This is the 19th year we have had a stand at the Redcliffe Show. This year we were awarded the 2nd Place Ribbon for an inside display. I also had the privilege of judging the photographic section of the Show. Some of the work by Redcliffe amateur photographers was outstanding making it a difficult task. It is always good to catch up with old friends and see many past portrait and wedding clients (some with new family additions) I have done work for over the years. One elderly lady made the comment to me that she always visits the Redcliffe Show and has a look at my stand and what new work I have displayed. We will be there again next year so if you are at the Show drop by and say "Hi" to Carmel or myself. Click photos above to see large.

Timeless Black & White

I have always loved black & white going back over 20 years to my amateur days. There is something about its simplicity, no distracting colours, just the image itself. It has had a huge come back in popularity and many of my clients ask for it as it fits in so well with contemporary homes. Click thumbnails to see large.

Location Family Portrait

Outdoor family portraits are something I love doing. Getting out of my studio, having lovely clients to work with and choosing the right spot. Of course a prop or two helps and Prue and Andrew had just purchased a Jeep Wrangler which made a great prop! The close up family group then the 3 girls were photographed using a BBQ table with palms and greenery behind them and the late afternoon sun adding a touch of "rim" lighting to their hair. Business premises

Sometimes business owners require quality images of their premises for brochures, adverts and web sites. These can be tricky to photograph and this one at Aspley on Brisbane's north-side was no exception. It was a hive of activity with customers coming and going to the shop and cars pulling in and out of the front car park obstructing my camera view.
Some patience was rewarded, the car park emptied and I got my images. The interior panorama is actually 3 images stitched together to get the entire shop in. Click thumbnails to view large.

St. John's Cathedral wedding

On the 17th April we had the privilege of photographing Angela and Alan's wedding at St. John's Cathedral in Brisbane with 160 guests. The weather was kind and we avoided the recent showers. St. John's is a superb church for a wedding followed by photos below Customs house then the Brisbane Botanical Gardens for some variety. Click on photos to see large.

Toyota 1998 MR2 car photos

Something a little bit different for me. Photos of a 1998 Toyota MR2 for a UK car magazine. Owner Sharne Osborne is a keen MR2 enthusiast who has spent many hours modifying his car and needed quality photos for publication. Photographed at dusk to capture the blue interior lights. The magazine editor was very happy with the shots. Click photos to see large.
