Five Generations

This is really something special and I have only had the priveldge of doing this about 4 times in my 20 year career. Five generations
direct mother to daughter from aged 97 down to 6 years. Happens so very rarely and worth it's weight in gold to the youngest. A photo she can pass onto her children and grandchildren. And to top it all the oldest at 97 is using the internet, emails, sending and receiving photos! An inspiration to us all. Click on photos to see large.

Father & Son on the Hornibrook.

Father and son enjoy fishing on the old Hornibrook Highway bridge and wanted a portrait that showed just that. The Hornibrook is iconic to Redcliffe and makes a great location. Photo shoot done just as the sun was on the Western horizon.

"Low Key" Family Studio Portrait

The Harvey Family were a delight to work with and produce lots of lovely images for them in my studio. Four good looking, fun loving kids and it is hard to go wrong! Their parents wanted images that were relaxed, informal and showed their family personalities. Black clothing against a black background produces simple striking photos with the viewers concentration on their faces. This technique also looks good in black & white or sepia. Family Portrait with a difference!

A family portrait with a difference for the Cheney family. I did plenty of other shots but one of the daughters wanted an "fun action shot" and this is the result. A little quirky and I love it! For the camera buffs this was shot wide open at f2.8 and about 350s late afternoon on ISO 400. Click photo to view large.

Kristy & Wade's Redcliffe Wedding

This was a local Redcliffe wedding on the 28th November for Kristy and Wade with about 60 guests. Finished up with about 400 different images for them to choose from to create their unique wedding album in the contemporary magazine style. The bridesmaid is Kristy's sister and the groomsman a brother of Wade which really made it a family affair. Click photos to see large.

Cute Baby.

Isn't she a cutie? So easy to photograph when babies are like this and in a playful mood. I just went with the flow and got a heap of beautiful images. Click on thumbnail to see larger.

High Key Studio.

Which effect do you prefer? Both are done recently in my Redcliffe studio. The most popular is the "High Key" that is the one on the left, white on white for a modern contemporary look that suits most contemporary houses. Looks great as black and white as well! Click photo to see large.

Ailsa & Brett's wedding at Ipswich.

Yesterday I had the privilege of photographing the daughter's wedding of a photographer friend of mine. It was a lovely small wedding at Ipswich with about 50 guests. Very relaxed and comfortable. Click on photos to see large.

Chrome Taps for catalogue

Chrome is always difficult to photograph and chrome taps with their curves and mirror finish would be the worst. It is a challenge to not have all sorts of unwanted reflections in the chrome, including myself! These were done for an importers catalogue and web site.

Studio Kids

Studio Kids. Their Mum asked for black and white with the childrens eyes left blue and just a touch of rosy cheeks. Happy to oblige! Click photo to see larger.

Fog at Woody Point Jetty

This morning was one of those rare Redcliffe mornings when the fog rolls in and blankets the Peninsula. It also closed Brisbane Airport for several hours until it lifted about 8.00am. This is a couple of shots of the Woody Point Jetty about 6.30am. Compare with the dust storm shots from a couple of weeks ago if you scroll down. Click photos to view large.

Tania & Deric's wedding

It was a privilege to photograph Tania and Deric's wedding last Saturday here at Redcliffe. I am a member of the Rotary Club of Redcliffe City with Deric, and have known him for several years. They are a great couple. They had about 130 guests including a number of fellow Rotarians for a garden wedding at the Redcliffe Botanical Gardens followed by the reception at the Bramble Bay Bowls Club. We did the bridal party shots mostly at the Gardens followed by some shots on the Woody Point Jetty. They have an excellent selection of 400+ images to work with and create a stunning wedding album. Family snap

There is one thing about being a photographer with beautiful grandchildren. That is I get to photograph them lots. This is my granddaughter a couple of days ago. Just a family snap but so very important to me, as are the photos that I create for my clients of their loved ones.
Just a moment in time as she sat on the swing with the sun behind her, but now we have it forever. That is the reason I am so passionate about my craft. Those captured moments. Click to see larger.

Redcliffe Beach Family Portrait

Family portrait shoot late yesterday at Redcliffe Beach with the jetty in the background. Casual and informal and the interaction between the parents and their son was something special. There was still some dust haze around which softened the light. Click photo to see large.

Story Bridge Climb

A couple of shots from Carmel and my self's Story Bridge Climb late yesterday afternoon. Took about 2.5 hours. Well worth it and highly recommended. For once I am at the other end of the camera. They use Canon G10 cameras which I also have one. Probably the best compact camera on the market. Click photo to see large.

Five Generations

Five Generations in my studio. Great-Great Grandmother down. Kept it nice and simple. Paige aged two at centre. These are always something special as I don't get to many! Maybe one day I will do six generations. Click on photo to view large.

More dust storm photos

Dust storm photos about 1.30pm today (Wednesday) at Woody Point, Redcliffe. Notice the lack of a clear horizon. Click photo to view large.

Dust Storm over Redcliffe.

Dust Storm over Redcliffe today about 1.00pm. The worst I have seen in 37 years living in Redcliffe. Have tried to keep the colours as close as possible to what they were, a strange yellow light that soon put a light dust powder over everything. Could even taste it! Made for some interesting photography. Click photos to see large.

Black & White Family Portrait .

Two images from a photo shoot for the Dyer family a couple of weeks ago. They were back in today to choose their images and this is their favourite shots. They like the simplicity of black and white as do I. It has a timeless quality with no distracting elements. One image compliments the other and they make a great pair. Concrete steps don't look so good in colour! Click the photo to see large. See more family portraits (studio and location) at my site: http://www.glensmithphotography.com/portraits/index.htm

Rotary Club of Redcliffe City 2010 Calendar.

A great gift for family and friends. The entire $10 from each calendar sold will go to the Redcliffe Hospital Foundation, The Redcliffe PCYC and other local groups and charities. Calendars can be purchased from me (Phone 3883 2096), the Margate Post Office, Scarborough Post Office, Commonwealth Bank Redcliffe, The PCYC plus at the Redcliffe Markets on Sunday mornings until Christmas. Male Hair Fashion Shoot

Something a little out of the ordinary for me. My hairdresser needed a couple of head shots of her partner for a male hairdressing magazine competition. The requirement was to be in black and white, a frontal shot plus a profile. I tilted the models' head slightly forward to show the hairstyle and used a hair light to accent and separate his black hair against the black backdrop and this is the result. Best of luck Ashley with your entry!

Wedding at Clontarf foreshore

Yesterday was the 09/09/09 a very popular day for weddings and I photographed Jessica and Shaun's Redcliffe wedding at Clontarf. A beautiful spring day and they looked stunning with a black and white theme for their wedding. This is a sample image for them (click the photo to see larger) as Jessica liked the look of Black & White with part colour.
Check out some of the proofs from their wedding at:

Family Portrait at Shorncliffe Jetty.

Shorncliffe Pier at Sandgate is a favourite location for myself and clients for outdoor portraits. This lovely old (over 100 years) jetty just lends itself to portraiture. This shot of the Curtis family is from late this afternoon when the sun has almost set. The receding jetty adds a 3D effect. and for something different I have kept their jeans in their original colour and put the rest into a soft sepia. Click the photo to see a larger size.

Baby at the beach

Quite a different shot from my previous high key studio baby portrait below this post. This little guy is only 10 months old and I photographed him and his family late yesterday afternoon at Redcliffe Beach beside the Jetty. It was his first beach sand experience and he had a great time until he landed face first and got a mouthful of sand! Babies at this age can be very active and he was no exception and had me down on the sand following him around. One has to work quick with this age to get a good shot. Click photo to view large.

Baby High Key Studio

Isn't he just fantastic? I just love photographing babies and Oliver was a dream to work with. This is a "high key" shot with the white backdrop and light skin tones. Simple but very effective. One of his favourite toys adds a splash of colour. Click image to see larger. Lots more children's portraits on my site at: http://www.glensmithphotography.com/child/index.htm

Location Family Portrait

A casual and fun family portrait with a natural back drop is what Fiona and Michael asked for. This is one image from yesterday afternoon at Redcliffe Beach with the Redcliffe Jetty and sea behind them.
